“I wonder if I can build that?” In 1982, Scott Morledge built a 2,000-square-foot home from the ground up. He learned the craft gradually, completing the bulk of the work himself. One day, a woman came along, liked the house, and wanted to buy it, propelling Scott into the homebuilding business and inspiring him to found Ash Creek Homes.

Scott named Ash Creek Homes after his family’s farm in Wisconsin. In 1985, he partnered with his friend and developer “Red” Wencel. Together, they expanded the company’s goals, hiring their first employee in 1987, and in 1989, Ash Creek’s longest-tenured employee, Liz Chipman, joined the team.

By 1993, Ash Creek had completed several successful projects in the Austin area, and Scott and Red embarked on their first custom community. This effort began our focus on building small, intimate neighborhoods with meticulous craftsmanship.

Paying attention to the details

Our current President and CEO, Jenna Edge, began in Ash Creek’s marketing department and became the Development Project Manager before eventually leading the company. The Ash Creek team is a tight-knit group, with many associates and vendor partners working together for over ten years to build our communities. This stability ensures we can offer quality craftsmanship and execution as we create homes that combine impeccable design, a focus on preserving the beauty of the Texas Hill Country, and a dedication to making luxury and low-maintenance living effortlessly attainable.
